Certificate & Assessment Criteria

How you earn the Future Builders certificate: the completion gate you need to meet, and how your rubric levels across the course map to a Bronze, Silver, or Gold award.

This is a reference page, not a session. It explains exactly what it takes to be certified in Course 3 — The Future Builders, and how the level of your award is decided.

Path showing the steps a student follows to earn the course certificate

How you earn the certificate

To be awarded the Future Builders certificate, you need to meet all three of these:

  1. Attend & participate — take part in the sessions and the discussions. This is a hands-on course; showing up and building is how the skills stick.
  2. Pass the three unit projects — reach Proficient or higher on the three unit projects:
  3. Unit 1 Project — Train a Deep Model
  4. Unit 2 Project — Build with Modern AI
  5. Unit 3 Project — A Research Study
  6. Complete the capstone portfolio — finish the Course Capstone at Developing or higher, including the repository, a report, a demo where feasible, and a presentation.

Meet all three and you've earned the certificate. The scale below decides the level of your award.

Your award level

Your certificate comes at one of three levels, decided by how your work sits against the rubrics across the three unit projects and the capstone. Each rubric level is a step up from the last.

Each rubric level is a step up from Emerging to Exemplary

For each project, take your average rubric level (out of the four levels: Emerging, Developing, Proficient, Exemplary), then look at your overall picture across all four projects:

Overall rubric level Award
Around Developing Bronze — certified Future Builder
Around Proficient Silver — certified with strong, sound work
Around Exemplary Gold — certified with outstanding, university-ready work

Meeting the gate above earns the certificate; this scale sets whether it's Bronze, Silver, or Gold. Gold reflects work that is consistently rigorous, honest, and polished across the whole course — not one standout piece.

Your university-ready portfolio

Everything you make here is built to be kept and shown. The unit projects, and especially the capstone, are real, evidenced work you can put in front of a competition judge, a teacher, or a university or scholarship application. Keep it all in one place:

Remember what admissions readers and judges actually value: honest, rigorous work. A modest result done properly — with a fair method, the right metrics, and clear limitations — is far stronger evidence of a real builder than an impressive claim with nothing behind it. That honesty is the thing this whole course is teaching you.
